Ethiopian Diaspora Association donated 1.1 billion dollars in REMMITANCE.

Ethiopia receives ~3 billion USD in remittances over the first 11 months of the current fiscal year, according to the Ethiopian Diaspora Agency (EDA).Approximations of the contributions excluding remittance listed below-192.1 million Birr to the construction of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), -More than 30 million Birr to Dine for the Nation, -282.8 million Birr to Covid-19 impact mitigation, -600 million Birr to the Ethiopian Defense Forces, -Around 103 million Birr in volunteer services.The diaspora community also contributed a staggering 1.1 billion USD in remittance to assist development initiatives at home. They’ve also used a variety of measures to combat foreign interference in Ethiopia. EDA Director-General Selamawit Dawit announced on July 1 at the annual performance evaluation conference in Bishoftu that 83 Diaspora-owned investment projects with a total capital of 3.9 billion had also been operational during the reporting period. Over 13,000 people were employed as a result of the initiatives.Planning and Monitoring Head of the Agency, Tesfaye Demie said the Diasporas’ contribution this year for the GERD exceeds the sum total of the past three consecutive years. Ethiopians residing in many parts of the world staged several protests to protect their country’s interests and denounce outsider intrusions, as well as to inform the worldwide community about Ethiopia’s actual reality.It has been demonstrated that the government has provided the necessary support to 1,192 Ethiopian Diasporas with a total capital of 37.8 billion Birr to begin investment and support other business initiatives back home.
