The Weeknd named Goodwill Ambassador for United Nations World Food Programme.

Abel Tesfaye, also known as, The Weeknd Known for his wildly successful music was named a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations World Food Programme, which provides food assistance to over 100 million people a year in more than 80 countries. The weeknd spoke about how the partnership represents a genuine extension of all his efforts and intents to assist those in need and stop so much suffering in the world. In addition to his long-standing support for the WFP, The Weeknd has previously donated $1 million to the organization to help with relief efforts in Ethiopia Barron Segar He made a total of over $3 million in donations to various organizations in the past year, President and Chief Executive Officer of WFP USA, commented on how his compassion and commitment to helping the world’s hungriest people is truly inspirational. The President and Chief Executive Officer also stated his hope on the inspiration the next generation of humanitarians will gain in his quest to ensure that no man, woman, or child goes to bed hungry.
