The Ethiopian Ministry of Trade announced the increase in fuel prices ranging from 6 to 20 ETB effective today. The country’s current situation and the depletion of the fuel price stabilization fund, which was used to keep costs stable regardless of the global price increase, are some of the causes.
In addition to this, the price increase is also aimed at combating the contraband sale of fuel because of the somewhat lower fuel prices in Ethiopia compared to neighboring countries.
