December 23, 2021

Established in 1960, IDA is one of the most significant aid sources for the world’s 76 poorest countries, 39 in Africa. IDA’s resources create positive change for the 1.6 billion people living in IDA countries. IDA helps by providing grants for projects that boost economic growth, reduce poverty, & improve people’s lives.

The funding will boost women’s empowerment, electricity access & reliability, and fiscal management. The Government of Benin will create an institutional structure to encourage and safeguard women’s rights and enable them to participate in social, economic, and political life actively and safely.

Additionally, services for women will be fortified for survivors of discrimination or violence, improve gender-based violence judiciary treatment, and develop better access to sexual and reproductive health services. It will create actions to promote the country’s progressive conversion to renewable energy sources and access to electricity in rural areas. It will also expand domestic revenue mobilization and reinforce the capability to manage debt.
