Ethiopian Investment Commission stated that Ethiopia secured $1 billion from Foreign Direct Investment.

December 27, 2021

The 2020 Investment Climate Report on Ethiopia stated that China, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey bring the most substantial FDI to Ethiopia. Lelise Neme, Commissioner of EIC, mentioned that the investment total in 4 four months is above 28 percent more than the last fiscal year. This is due to investments from 33 foreign investors in the manufacturing and 21 in the service sectors. Most of the investments came from China. These investments have created more than 34,580 jobs, of which almost 24,000 are women.

This demonstrates that foreign investors realize the advantages of investing in Ethiopia. EIC encourages more investment in the agriculture, industry, services, energy & mining sectors. Ethiopia has several strong points for investment, such as being one of the fastest-growing economies globally, with GDP growth averaging 10% in the last decade and the second-largest market in Africa, with around 102 million people and a rapidly growing middle class.
