ArcelorMittal Liberia is part of the ArcelorMittal group, the world’s leading steel & mining company and the leader in all major steel markets such as construction, domestic appliances, packaging, and automotive. The group has an industrial presence across four continents in more than 22 countries.
Business centers located in the area where the streetlights are installed allowed traders to operate their provision shops, drug stores, and money to sell late in the night. Representative Somwarbi encouraged the community residents that the newly installed solar streetlights are well protected from criminals who want to steal them.
The solar streetlights installation is one of many ongoing social and community development projects by ArcelorMittal Liberia initiatives to improve security and the area’s outlook. There will be more dedicated to improving facilities to create a better environment for the community.
The other initiatives include solar electrification of Yekepa’s streets, remodeling Zolowee Public School in Nimba, & youth conference sponsorship, community health outreach, public safety awareness around the rails and motorways, and volunteer activities for a week by employees of AML and community residents.
