GenU Youth Challenge invites Ethiopia’s youth to submit their innovative ideas.

Ethiopia launches a global initiative called GenU (Generation Unlimited) Youth Challenge and invites youth to submit their innovative ideas in the selected five cities. Generation Unlimited is an initiative that brings together partners from government, multilateral organizations, civil society, the private sector, and young people worldwide.

In Ethiopia, GenU was launched in an online event on March 31, 2021, with an ambition of bringing together the government, businesses, financial institutions, the UN, civil society, and young people to work together to solve significant challenges and invest in young people as they prepare to enter adulthood.

For GenU Youth Challenge 2022 Ethiopia, 30 to 50 youths will be chosen as finalists from all the cities and will be given an orientation, an 8-day boot camp & coaching sessions, and receive a 100,000 ETB award.

Interested applicants can apply online or at the Job Commission offices in the cities. The business ideas must strive for social impact in addressing the challenges of the community. Registration is open until February 9, 2022, for 3-5 members aged 18 -29 and from Addis Ababa, Adama, Bahir Dar, Hawassa, & Jigjiga.

The initiative aims to incubate young Ethiopians help them get finance and coaching for their business to flourish. GenU Youth Challenge is part of a global initiative aiming to help countries meet sustainable goals by empowering their youth and continue until the year 2030.
