Samaritan’s Purse is an international disaster relief organization that focuses on improving communities by providing better access to clean water, repairing and restoring schools, establishing sustainable livelihoods, and assisting displaced people with their urgent needs.
The organization aims to help restore looted and damaged health facilities in northern Ethiopia, especially in Amhara Regional State around Merisa Hospital and other health centers. It donated 13 tons of life-saving medical equipment and supplies worth 250,000 USD. The donations include several medical aids, machines like anesthesiology, X-ray, & ultrasound, and operating tables.
This allows to help looted and damaged facilities, give extensive services for millions of communities, and restore them to pre-conflict status. Samaritan’s Purse is dedicated to supporting Ethiopia’s solidarity to rebuilding a better health system.
Country Director of Samaritan’s Purse in Ethiopia, Ryan Lane, stated that the organization has the essential medical furniture equipment consumables and supplies to help restart the healthcare system in northern Ethiopia. It is currently purchasing supplies in Addis Ababa to restore the medical system of north Ethiopia to its previous level of effectiveness and efficiency.
