The Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) launches Africa’s first AI Research Center in Brazzaville, Congo, to focus on technology and innovation. Congo will be Africa’s regional AI hub for the evolution of emerging technologies. It will give access to the most profound and highest quality pool of AI talent.
The African Research Center on AI will increase job creation, close the digital divide, eliminate poverty for Africa’s socio-economic growth, and ensure ownership of modern digital management tools.
The center aims to advance AI to boost digital policy, infrastructure, finance, skills, digital platforms, and entrepreneurship. It’s funded by ECA and other partners to educate and provide skills to promote Africa’s integration to produce comprehensive economic growth.
The UN partners include the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the International Telecommunications Union, and Alibaba Jack Ma Foundation.
Africa aims to transform into a global powerhouse according to the blueprint and master plan of the 2063 Agenda. The AI Centre is a new dynamic to Africa’s participation in the global value chain.
