MTN becomes the first African company to join the metaverse by purchasing land in Africarare. A metaverse is a virtual-reality space where users can interact with a computer-generated environment and other users. Africa’s first digital domain Africarare is a 3D virtual reality immersive hub that houses a metaverse marketplace set in Ubuntuland.

Ubuntuland highlights a few of the best African art, fashion, entertainment, sport, technology, and creativity and provides a platform for artists from all over Africa to display their work.

The afro-themed metaverse creates local representation in a growing global digital universe. It exposes the continent to significant digital and economic growth opportunities for talents, clients, and industry colleagues to join and solve business and enable creative changes for society.

MTN is Africa’s largest mobile network operator. This purchase will see MTN owning 144 plots of virtual land with a total area of 12x12m. MTN is committed to supporting African innovation and is the first company on the continent to help this kind of initiative. MTN aims to increase customers’ digital land interactivity by enhancing digital experiences & engagement.
