March 21, 2022

2022 marks the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency’s 30th anniversary in Ethiopia, with its office in Addis Ababa being the first in Africa. TİKA has been implementing almost 200 projects in Ethiopia since 2005. This includes the donation project of medical supplies, crutches, and wheelchairs to hospitals in the Afar and Tigray regions in 2016.

TIKA recently renovated a health center serving nearly 3,000 people in Ethiopia. The agency provided state-of-the-art medical devices and equipment for the health center and aided in improving its service quality. TIKA supplied medical equipment like autoclaves, microscopes, gurneys, examination tables, & centrifuge machines.

The health center has 11 employees who serve hundreds of detainees, law enforcement officers, and families. The opening ceremony was attended by Yaprak Alp, Türkiye’s Ambassador to Addis Ababa, Cengiz Polat, TİKA’s Program Coordinator in Ethiopia, and Ethiopian officials.
