The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum (MoMP) is the first port of call for all investors interested in Ethiopia’s mining or petroleum sectors. Takele Uma, Ethiopia’s Minister of Mines and Petroleum, signed an agreement with Joseph M. Wolfe, VP of the US firm, Netherland, Sewell & Associates, Inc., to conduct surveys on Ethiopia’s natural gas potential. Also present at the signing was Tracey Jacobson, the US ambassador to Ethiopia.

It is a worldwide leader of petroleum property analysis to industry, financial organizations, and government agencies. Ministry of Mines and Existing exploration studies conducted on 3,500 square kilometers of land in the Somali region of Ethiopia will be used in addition to the new surveys.
The surveys will develop Ethiopia’s natural oil and gas & crude oil resources for fertilizer and enhance international energy investments. The agreement gives facts on the amount of Ethiopia’s natural oil and gas available. The MoM will use the data in implementation plans to attract foreign investment.
