On March 29, 2022, Zemen Bank and Mastercard introduced Ethiopia’s first Mastercard Payment Gateway Services for all e-commerce transactions. The platform allows an efficient online buying process, cost reduction, no contact between buyer & seller, and widens the customer base.
MPGS enables payments across web/e-commerce, mail order, telephone order, mobile/m-commerce, and call center using debit, credit, or prepaid cards of MasterCard and VISA schemes. It benefits merchants, buyers, airlines, hotels, tour and travel operators, delivery service providers, and small & medium enterprises (SMEs) to access global markets.
