South African Nkosinathi Maphumulo, aka Black Coffee, wins the Best Dance/Electronic Album Grammy Award.

Nkosinathi Maphumulo is a 46-year-old South African DJ, record producer, and songwriter. Black Coffee achieved the Guinness World Record in 2010 for the longest-ever DJ set, playing for 60 hours. After winning the Breakthrough DJ of the Year at the 2015 DJ Awards in Ibiza and Best African Act at the 2016 BET Awards in Los Angeles, he gained international recognition. He was sampled by Drake’s 2017 “playlist” More Life, which attracted other major U.S. R&B stars like John Legend and Usher. He collaborated with various artists like David Guetta, Delilah Montagu, Sabrina Claudio, and Celeste.

He won his first-ever Grammy award for his seventh studio album, Subconsciously. He competed with international artists like Illenium, Major Lazer, Marshmello, Sylvan Esso, and Ten City. He is the first African to win in this category.
