Spotlight of the week – Tsion Bahru

April 8, 2022

Tsion Bahru, Founder and Creative Director of MISS.T.CAL Apparel Design, participated in a panel discussion held at the Global Spin Trade Conclave, representing Ethiopia’s youngest and newly emerging fashion designers. The panel discussion spun around eco-handlooms, eco-textiles, and apparel. She participated in the panel discussion focusing on customer-oriented designs and products development. The designer also delivered a top-notch presentation on digital marketing for fashion products.

Tsion’s “MISS.T.CAL Apparel Design” focuses mainly on custom-made fits. She explains her design process, from one-to-one consultation to making repeated fitting sessions with the customer. She values customers’ preferences for the attire. “The customer is a co-creator where she/he comes up with her own design/idea,” says Tsion Bahru in one of her interviews. She also mentions that it’s important to sketch the design until it becomes a perfect fit with the one on the customer’s mind. According to the designer’s stance, there’s no limit to listening to what the customer wants. Aside from the tailored fits, MISS.T.CAL is also known for its classic ready-made wear like bikinis, monokinis, kimonos, and crochet pieces.

Tsion’s perspective on customer-oriented design approaches adds good value to her upcoming fashion products. We hope to see fashion designers become strategic as Tsion Bahru to exceed their customer’s expectations.
