Over 1,000 students at the University of Mauritius complete a 3-year skills development program.

Oracle is an American database management company selling database software & technology, cloud engineered systems, and enterprise software. The company is dedicated to supporting tech startups in Africa to boost innovation with cloud technologies. As part of its goals, it completed a 3-year skills development program for over 1000 students studying at the University of Mauritius.

The training encouraged the students to work on cloud-led digital technologies like AI, machine learning, and the Internet of Things (IoT). Oracle aims to enhance the technological & innovation mindset of Mauritius’ entrepreneurs and future business leaders. As part of the training, students used Oracle Cloud Infrastructure to develop a breast cancer awareness app. The application gives written and video demonstrations of breast cancer self-examination techniques. It also provides information for a nationwide early cancer screening and detection program.
