The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) launches Digital Transformation Centers Initiative (DTC) to boost digital skills in Ethiopia. The ITU and Cisco collaborated to create DTC 3 years ago to help citizens and institutions develop their digital capabilities with international standards. The initiative will strengthen the connection between job seekers and employees while it serves as a platform for collaboration between government, academicians, civil society, and development partners. The targeted groups include youth, policymakers, startups, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), and entrepreneurs.
The DTC aims to enhance digital literacy in the teaching, education, social, economic, and tourism sectors. It will also enable people to receive life-changing opportunities by creating a digital society. Its goals contribute to Ethiopia’s 2025 digital strategy in education and employment. The initiative focuses on enhancing the digital literacy of marginalized people, especially individuals with disabilities and women & girls in the rural community. It provides training to improve efficiency, employability, administration, and research.
