As young professionals in the creative industry, it is usual to see people exploring their talents and their true passions through time, regardless of what they have learned in the past few years. Some people stop learning, some do it while learning and others do it after finishing what they have started. Tsion’s experience fits in one of these boxes as she started to explore what she’s truly passionate about four years ago. She has been a phenomenon photographer capturing the essence of her city and her country.
Tsion Haileselassie is a self-taught photographer living in Addis Ababa. Tsion started watching the world with lenses four years ago. She began this journey with her deep interest in capturing the street life. It is often neglected to observe the phenomena happening in the streets as we go about our days. Tsion had a different view of how she wants to observe the city and inturn the country. She has an academic background in general psychology and digital marketing. As photographers have a way of looking at the world in different perspectives, Tsion had to explore other fields to widen her angles of living in the creative industry. She has mentioned on African Women Photography platform that capturing daily lives of people and sharing their stories has helped her become successful in her photography career.
After she joined photography as a career, it has been the most prominent part of her life. It has helped her visualize the “Addis Ababa” she thinks of using her camera one photo at a time. Tsion is currently a member of African Woman Photography under the East African Phorographers section. We’re happy to see black women evolve through the creative industry being built from ground up. Keep creating.
