Yefikir design is a clothing line that makes use of hand woven textiles that are abundant in Ethiopia. The brand turned into a stand-alone label in 2009. Working with the Ministry of Social and Labor Affairs, the brand has advocated for child labor-free products.
Fikirte Addis integrated psychology and fashion to create socially responsible designs. It’s actually beneficial. “Psychology helped me establish many socially responsible production systems like child labor free products, ensuring fair payments, and also creating job opportunities for mothers,” says Fikirte Addis, founder of Yefikir design and award winning designer. Her designs are known to be culturally friendly and at the same time modern for women looking for these sorts of designs. It’s not just psychology but also art that is being incorporated in Fikirte’s designs. In the most recent design featured on the HAWF 2022, Fikirte used an Alex Mafi’s artwork in her designs. This has shown us the designer’s observation and her ability to look at other industry trends.
Yefikir’s most recent design was featured on the HAWF 2022. The designs are absolutely beautiful. As Fikirte, we encourage designers to be socially responsible and create products that are safe for humanity in general.
