Ethio Telecom partners with Immigration & Citizenship Service to make digital passport payments with Telebirr

The Immigration & Citizenship Service (ICS) currently serves 1500 to 2000 customers daily who require passport renewal and replacement. Telebirr’s platform has managed over 19.95 million subscribers, over 82 master agents, and thousands of agents & businesses in a year. Telebirr integrated with 12 banks for money transfer from bank to telebirr with ten banks transferring from telebirr to bank. Ethio Telecom partners with Immigration & Citizenship Service to simplify payments using Telebirr’s digital platform.

The new partnership integrates the Telebirr payment system and ICS platform to meet the growing demand. Telebirr’s platform provides passport issuance, renewal, replacement, and improving damaged passports. The aim is to use a fast, reliable, cost-effective payment system to remove queues and save time & energy.
