Ethiopia’s Ministry of Education collaborates with Microsoft to help digitize the education sector with HETMIS. The Higher Educational Training Management Information System improves data collection, management, reporting, and analytics. The HETMIS enables the Ministry of Education to become proficient in the end-to-end data collection & analysis process and provides a robust technology platform. The system is accessible to stakeholders, from higher education institutions to colleges or departments.

The project includes capacity building and training to impact over 50 public universities, 380 private universities, and 1,800 TVET institutions. The Ministry of Education aims to ensure effectiveness, quality, and equitable education & training systems at all sector levels. The system will also produce a capable and competitive workforce to enhance Ethiopia’s economic development. Microsoft works to empower education systems globally through its Leaders in Digital Transformation of Education program by encouraging countries to convert from static data to integrated, real-time insights using modern data and Artificial Intelligence services.
