Mesfin Tassew becomes a member of the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) Board of Governors. He was elected at the 78th IATA Annual General Meeting and World Transport Summit in Doha, Qatar. The IATA is a trade association representing 290 airlines in 120 countries, making up 83% of the world’s air traffic. It represents airlines from Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and the US. The association helps its member airlines through international recognition & lobbying, reduces costs, training, and more. As a member of the Board of Governors,
Mesfin is Ethiopian Airlines Group’s CEO with nearly 40 years of airline management and operations experience. Mesfin has been the managing director of ASKY Airlines for 11 years and is a significant shareholder. He also worked for Ethiopian Airlines for 38 years in various capacities, including Associate Engineer, managerial and supervisory positions, Director of Operations & Technical Systems Support, Chief Information Officer, Vice President of Maintenance & Engineering, COO, and Board of Directors. Mesfin will provide oversight and executive role on behalf of the membership and represent the association’s interests.
