Tems, wins the Best International Act at the BET Awards 2022

Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, aka Tems, wins the Best International Act at the BET Awards 2022. Tems is a 27-year-old singer, songwriter, and record producer who received multiple nominations and won awards like Soul Train Music Awards, NAACP Image Awards, Net Honors, All Africa Music Awards, and many more. Her songs ‘Damages’ and ‘Herself’ have been nominated multiple times.

The BET Awards celebrate Black excellence in music, culture, and sports. This is her first international award for her record. She was also nominated for Best New Artist, among five others. She joins other Nigerian artists like 2Baba, D’banj, Ice Prince, Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy, who had previously won the Best International Act. Tem also won the BET Awards 2022 Best Collaboration with Wizkid’s ‘Essence’ featuring Justin Bieber. Tems competed against artists like Fireboy, Dave from the UK, Dinos from France, Fally Ipupa from Congo, Little Simz from the UK, Ludmilla from Brazil, Major League Djz from South Africa, and Tayc from France.
