Amal Mohamed is a 20-year-old 2nd-year law student at Kenyatta University who is also an author and environmentalist. She is the author of “Deception,” a novel about teenage pregnancy, deceit, and drug trafficking. She is also the Nature Defense Organization’s founder, an ambassador for the International Youth Conference, and an ambassador to the HEY Campaign, which is a movement focusing on the environment and climate change. Amal received the 2022 African Icon Awards (AIA) for outstanding leadership and patriotism.
The AIA celebrates African leaders, industry heads, young achievers, patriots, and community builders. The award aims to honor outstanding people who have leveraged their strong leadership and governance skills to increase human endeavors in which Africa thrives. Every year, the award brings Africans together and promotes unity to explore new frontiers of development, among other things. The award ceremony is one of Africa’s largest gatherings of prominent global leaders.
