The 12 new members of the Intergovernmental Committee for Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage. The assembly selected the countries at the 2003 UNESCO Convention’s 9th session of the General Assembly, which 180 States Parties attended. The 2003 UNESCO Convention functions at a national and international level. The Lists of Intangible Cultural Heritage aims to protect and create awareness of their significance & the precious intangible cultural heritage globally. The committee is responsible for directing best practices, promoting the Convention’s objectives, and providing feedback on actions to safeguard intangible cultural heritage. Ethiopia will work for a balanced and definitive list of inscribed intangible heritage, reflecting the world’s beauty and diversity. As a member and one of the African representatives, Ethiopia will help the committee examine requests submitted by States Parties for the inscription of intangible heritage on the Lists, review program proposals & projects, and grant international assistance.
