Publish What You Fund’s Aid Transparency Index is the world’s only independent measure of aid transparency among major development organizations. The Index ranks major aid organizations based on 35 indicators, each equivalent to the availability and accessibility of specific information. It evaluates five aspects of transparency, namely organizational planning and commitments, finance and budgets, project attributes, development data joining, and performance. The scores are assessed and assigned to each indicator based on the perceived importance of the information for data users, with a maximum of 100 points available.
The African Development Bank’s non-sovereign portfolio status is “”very good,”” the highest of the five categories, and it received a top score of 98.5. The Bank was assessed according to several criteria, such as finance & budgets, primary information data, and organizational planning & performance. AfDB was selected for higher quality data, continued accountability, and accurate access to relevant information. It was also ranked second as the most transparent non-sovereign development finance institution. At the same time, its non-sovereign portfolio was ranked 12th out of 50 global development institutions.
