Ethiopia ranks second in the 18th World Athletics Championship Medals, with six medals. The USA took first place with 16 medals, followed by Ethiopia with six, Kenya with six, and Jamaica with four. The country has won three gold and three silver medals, with more to come, hopefully.

Ethiopia won the first gold medal in the women’s 10,000 meters with Letesenber Gidey, the second gold in the men’s marathon with Tamirat Tola, and the third gold in the women’s marathon with Gotytom Gebreslase. Letesenbet Gidey is the current record holder for the women’s 10,000m, her first globe title. Furthermore, Ethiopia won silver medals in the men’s Marathon by Mosinet Geremew, the women’s 1,500m by Gudaf Tsegay, and the men’s 3,000m steeplechase by Lamecha Girma.
