The World’s 100 Best Restaurants 2022 list selects three South African restaurants. Over 1,000 restaurant industry experts scour the globe for the list that returned last year after a one-year hiatus due to the pandemic. The list is a significant source of tourism, and restaurants pay special attention to it in the hopes of a boost.
The top African restaurants are Fyn Restaurant in Cape Town (37th), La Colombe (56th) in Cape Town, and Wolfgat (90th) in Paternoster. Fyn broke into the most competitive restaurant list for the first time and received ‘The Best Restaurant in Africa award. Fyn’s sources its ingredients from the best farms and fisheries in South Africa, and the restaurant is primarily Japanese. La Colombe was also on the World’s Best list in 2021, 2017, and 2016, ranking 81st, 73rd, and 76th. The restaurant has been recognized for its excellence and quality since 2016.
