Ethiopian Airlines orders Africa’s first A350-100

August 2, 2022

Ethiopian Airlines becomes Africa’s first airline to order four A350-1000s, the world’s most efficient aircraft. The A350-1000 is the largest version of the A350 Family and the most technologically advanced passenger plane. The aircraft uses 25% less fuel than its main competitor, saving money and reducing environmental damage. The airframe of the A350 is made of carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic and other advanced materials, while its engine is the Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 turbofans, the world’s most efficient large aero-engine.

Adding the latest aircraft to the airline’s fleet keeps Ethiopia in the lead with the latest technology and a fuel-efficient fleet. In addition, there were orders for two A350-900s on top of the airline’s previous request for twenty-two A350-900s, 16 already delivered. The A350-900 is also fuel efficient, with an operational reliability of 99.5%. Ethiopian Airlines continues to be Africa’s leading airline with one of the best aircraft for passengers and cargo, flying across five continents. It has received numerous awards for over a decade for its exemplary passenger and cargo services. The airline constantly works to enhance its in-flight service, such as entertainment products, to increase customer experience.
