The first-round winners of Global Finance’s 23rd annual World’s Best Consumer Digital Bank Awards have been announced. South Africa’s First National Bank (FBN) has been named Best Consumer Digital Bank in South Africa and Best Mobile Banking App in Africa. FBN is awarded for the strength of its digital strategy and the design and functionality of its digital platform. The bank has successfully acquired customers to use its digital offerings; its users have exponentially grown over the years. The breadth of its product offerings and evidence of tangible benefits gained from its digital initiatives. The 9-year-long survey the bank has been conducting is one of the proofs that helped FBN make the list of winners. The survey compares the bank’s internet banking, app, and customer experience to competitors’ and previous years’ performance.
To be on the selection list, banks and financial sectors must enter the competition beforehand for consideration in any category. A world-class panel of judges evaluates the competition winners at Infosys, a global consulting, technology, and outsourcing leader. The editors of Global Finance are responsible for the final selection of all winners. Giuseppe Virgillito, FNB Head of Digital Banking, stated that the consistent customer experience improvement across the digital channel is in line with the bank’s strategy to help customers manage their money through a safer, more convenient, and more efficient platform. Adding the FNB app has been zero-rated to cut data costs, making customer value a priority.
