GIZ and Siemens Healthineers collaborate to support Ethiopia’s healthcare system. The German Agency for International Cooperation, GIZ is a German-owned international enterprise that provides international development cooperation and education work. GIZ has been active in Ethiopia since 1964, working on three priority areas: economic development & vocational education and training, agriculture & food and nutrition security, and conservation & sustainable use of natural resources (biodiversity). It recently partnered with Siemens Healthineers, a German medical device company, to support Ethiopia’s healthcare system.
The deal includes supplying over 10 NX2 ultrasound devices to Ethiopia’s Ministry of Health to benefit vulnerable groups. In addition, International clinical experts will train Ethiopian medical & technical staff tailored to hospitals’ needs. The aim is to help women, children and people living with disability, and all those who cannot afford to get tested. Installing all the ultrasound devices and providing training for the hospital staff in Addis Ababa and other regions is expected to be completed by the end of 2022.
