Ethiopia plans to host its first-ever African Tech Expo from September 7-9, 2022, at the renowned Skylight Hotel, organized by Jorka Events Communication. The exhibition focuses on solar technology, electric vehicles, digital payment systems, telecommunications, and banking. The fair is expected to host over 250 exhibitors from local and international firms, like Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Oracle, Jumia, Siemens, Access, China Unicom, & more. The sectors presented at the African Tech Expo are Robotics, Blockchain, Cyber Security, Biotechnology, Security & Surveillance Apparatus, Computer Hardware & Accessories, Household Appliances, Consumer Electronics, Mobile Telephones, Internet Technology, Pharmaceuticals, Medical Supplies, Agriculture Machinery & Equipment, Building Materials, Construction Machinery, Automotive Parts, Plastics & Packaging, Hotel Supplies, and Industrial Supplies.
The expo aims to increase Ethiopia’s economic diplomacy and attract significant technology companies to the country. Global technology companies will exhibit their products and services at the Tech Expo to secure a part of the rising African market for technology. The tech expo plans to contribute to Africa’s Fintech industry. With the help of Fintech companies, financial services providers incorporate technology to enhance the usability and delivery of their products to customers. Fintech accounted for 63% or $3 billion of the overall funding for African startups, dominating the continent’s funding landscape. According to the most recent numbers provided by TechCabal, African entrepreneurs have so far raised more than $2.1 billion in 2022, with fintech continuing to lead the pack by securing $660 million in further funding.
